| Frances
Pollard set up her workshop in Corfe Castle in 1999. Her
functional pots are all thrown on the wheel and decorated
by hand before being fired to stoneware in an electric
kiln.
After studying Ceramics at Bretton Hall
College in Wakefield, Frances Pollard spent a further
nine years working in various potteries. She worked
at Dartington Pottery and Selborne Pottery in this country
as well as at potteries in Switzerland, Finland and
Australia.
She started her own workshop in Corfe Castle in May
1999, where she produces a range of domestic pots thrown
on the wheel, with an emphasis on decoration. Inspiration
for her designs are drawn from various sources in nature.
Living close to the sea has had an influence on her
work and images from travels abroad have also played
their part.
All
pots are made in her workshop opposite the steam railway
station in Corfe Castle.
