| I
obtained my Ceramics 3DD Hons. Degree at Bath Academy
of Art, graduating in 1991. Since then I have exhibited
sporadically over the South West in venues which include:
the Royal Western Academy of Art
In
my previous workshop I had a gas kiln and I worked with
stoneware clay; currently I have an electric kiln (less
time consuming) and am working with both stoneware and
earthenware clays. I am enjoying the contrast and find
that the different clays inspire different responses
in me. I continue to develop ornamental and functional
ware in stoneware and a more light-hearted tableware
range in earthenware, which I hope conveys a sense of
humour and are a pleasure to use.
John
Colbeck once said: “The lot of a repetition thrower
is difficult for someone inherently creative.”
I produce my tableware in small batches and do not attempt
to make each piece identical; I relish the variations.
I
am now living in an idyllic part of Devon, having moved
here from Dorset eight years ago.
