Ros Sommerfelt studied at Plymouth College of Art before taking a Diploma in Art & Design (Ceramics) at Loughborough College. She then worked for seven years at Poole Pottery painting and glazing for production before joining the Design Department where she spent 10 years developing shapes and patterns for production together with one-off hand painted pieces and tile designs. Ros then left Poole Pottery and worked for three years on freelance industrial design projects. Since then she has spent the last 15 years developing and producing hand built ceramics from her own studio - mainly in coiled stoneware, hand painted using rubber resist techniques with underglaze colours.
